Holly Beck is a junior this year at Central Michigan University with a major in General Business Administration. She is from Fenton, Michigan, and graduated from Lake Fenton High School. She has been competitively skating singles for 13 years. This is her first year on the CMU Synchro team. She loves skating on a team and her goal for the season is to work well with the team and have an all together awesome season!
Aimee Burandt is a freshman majoring in Athletic Training/Sports Medicine. She is from Big Rapids High School, Big Rapids, MI. She has skated singles for 16 years and synchro on and off for 6 years. She wanted to keep skating while in college and thought joining the CMU Synchro team would be a great way to stay active and meet new people. She hopes that our team can skate a clean program at each of our competitions this year.
Alyssa Chrisman is a freshman studying to be a high school teacher with an English major and a Speech minor. She is from Sterling Heights, MI and she attended Stevenson High School. Alyssa has skated singles for about 9 years, and this is her 5th year doing synchronized skating. She was previously on Fraser Eclipse and Gems on Ice. Last season, she helped coach Evolution's beginner team. She wanted to join Central's team because she absolutely loves synchro. This year she hopes we do our best at all competitions and improve throughout the season. Some random facts about her are that she loves to read (She admits she is addicted to Harry Potter) and she also loves theatre.
Kelsey Ehrke is from Armada, Michigan and she graduated from Armada High school. Kelsey is a Freshman at Central Michigan University and is majoring in Fashion Merchandising. This is her first year on the CMU Synchronized Skating Team and her first year ever skating synchro, although she skated singles for the past 14 years. She decided to join the team to get involved with the university, to continue skating, and to experience something she’s never done before. She is excited to see where the year will take us, what we will accomplish, and to watch us grow as a team.
Amber Giles is a sophomore at CMU and is majoring in health fitness. Amber is from WhiteLake and she graduated from Walled Lake Northern High School. She has been skating for 14 years and has done synchro for 4 years in the past. She decided to join the team as a freshman because she did not want to quit skating all together and she really enjoys skating synchro. This is her second year on the CMU synchronized skating team and hopes we can medal at all of our competitions like we did last year.
Lauren Griggs is a junior with an Interior Design and Business major. Lauren is also our Fundraising Chair. She is from Traverse City and attended Traverse City Central High School. Lauren skated singles for 15 years and did synchro for 11 years. She decided to join the team because she took her freshman year of college off from skating and she missed synchro too much. This is her second year on the team and she hopes to medal at every competition and to make lifelong friends. Some fun facts about Lauren are she was born in Alaska, she is the only skater on the team that lives up north, she can't say spatula or antenna correctly, she has a black cat named Lucifer, and when she graduates she hopes to move to New York or Chicago.
Jenna Hudy is a junior at CMU. She is pursuing a degree in early elementary education with an integrated science major. Jenna is from Livonia, and attended Franklin High School. She has been skating for about 9 years and has been skating synchro for 4 years. This is her second year with the CMU Synchro team and she thinks our team has a lot of potential for this year.
Amanda Ramsey is a junior with a double major in interior design and psychology. She is originally from Macomb and went to Dakota HS. Amanda has been skating for 13 years. She has been doing synchro for 7 years and this is her third year on Central's team. Her goal for the team this year is to just have fun because skating is enjoyable. =)
Gabriella Saputo is a sophomore at Central Michigan University majoring in Business/Finance. She graduated high school from Warren Woods Tower in Warren, Michigan in 2007. She skated for St. Clair Shores Figure Skating Club since she was 4 years old. She was on the precision team “Shoreliners” for two years. She has been a competitive single skater since 1996. She has accomplished up to Junior Freestyle and Senior Moves-In-The-Field levels. She loves performing for ice shows and choreographing programs. She has taught Learn-to-Skate and Hockey for both St. Clair Shores and Mt. Pleasant. She decided to join the CMU Synchro Team as soon as she heard there was a team. She has been on the team for 2 years, and is now the Treasurer of the team. She hopes the team will be as great and successful as they were last year in competitions. She can’t wait to get to Colorado for Mid-Westerns! In her spare time she likes to DANCE, go open skating, scrapbook, work out, and jam out to music.
Rachel Schell is a freshman planning on majoring in Biomedical Science. She is from Highland, MI and went to Lakeland High School. Rachel has been skating for 12 years, but this is her first year doing synchro. She decided to join the team because she loves to skate and wanted to keep in shape. Also, she loves being a part of a team and going to competitions. This year, she hopes we can do our best and try to place at every competition, especially MidWesterns. Rachel was also on the varsity track team in high school and can play the clarinet.
Meagan Bridget Shafto is the Vice President of the team and a senior studying public relations and public affairs. She went to Notre Dame Preparatory High School. She has skated singles and pairs for a combined total of 11 years. She has been with the Synchro team for 3 years. Meagan hopes that the team has another successful and safe skating season.
Maryellen Tighe is a sophomore at CMU majoring in Public Relations and Spanish. She graduated from H. H. Dow High School in Midland in 2007. Maryellen has been taking private lessons since she was ten and skated synchro for 4 years. She joined the CMU synchro team to make skating friends and compete. She hopes the team will perform well and improve at each competition.
Joanna Weinreich is in her third year of school and she is attending Central Michigan to pursue a Broadcast and Cinematic arts degree. She is from Waterford Michigan and she went to Waterford Mott high school. Joanna has been skating for 18 years. And 16 of those years she competed freestyle. She decided that she would join the Synchro team, because it would be a new experience. Having it be her second year on the team, she has had the time of her life!
Kelly Woo is a freshman and planning on majoring in business management. She is from Clarkston. This is her first year skating on CMU's synchronized skating team. Prior to skating at CMU she skated for Lakeland Skating Club's Team du Coeur for eleven years and for three of the years she held a captain or co captain position.
